Drag And Drop’s key aim is creating a contemporary, all-inclusive and
empowering idea of femininity. Fashion for us is about being playful, and is inspired by being a woman in today’s world, with clothes as one of the key tools for shaping identity, and dismantling gender stereotypes;
It’s about liberation from the social conventions and the restrictive aspects of womenswear, which we try to subvert through the materials and cuts we use.
We are two sisters Anna and Yuliya Grazdhan, born and raised in the city of Odessa in the South of Ukraine, on the Black sea coast. Odessa is a city with a rich multi-cultural background, which strongly in uenced the concept and aesthetic of «drag and drop»
Our modus operandi, when it comes to creativity, is inspired by our child- hood in Odessa - its vibrant atmosphere and the hedonism and freedom of the seaside town.
Our label was launched in Kiev in 2016. After Anya graduated with a degree in ne arts in Kiev, she decided to move into fashion and learned pattern cutting (although crafts and making things have always been her passions). At that time Yuilya, who has a degree in nance, was working in Kiev as a consultant for two Ukrainian fashion labels.
Since our arrival in Kiev, we’ve been involved in the city’s burgeoning cultural scene, collaborating with artists and musicians.
Intuition is one of the key forces of our creativity. We follow our instincts and try to allow the ideas to materialise as we go along. In our design we always incorporate our social and cultural in uences, the daily experiences, and our community of friends from an arts or electronic music background.
Drag And Drop is set to dismantle stereotypes of Eastern European women and challenge the representation of female sexuality in fashion. We use materials often as- sociated with bad taste and trashy sex appeal – such as snakeskin, lace and velvet – in designs which were not just ironic, but also comfortable and liberating for the body.
